Zions Direct is excited to announce that we are changing our clearing firm to Interactive Brokers LLC (IB) effective immediately. At Zions Direct we regularly look for ways to enhance our ability to provide clients with the tools necessary to help you achieve your financial goals. RECENT CHANGES

Why is Zions Direct changing to Interactive Brokers as its clearing firm?

Zions Direct routinely looks for ways to improve the offering that it presents to its clients. Interactive Brokers is regularly rated as the top on-line broker by different publications and executes more on-line trades on a daily basis than any other firm. Their platform and technology lead the brokerage industry and they are a great partner enabling Zions Direct to offer leading technology and a great on-line experience to its customers.

Will I receive a new User ID and Password?

Yes. Zions Direct is mailing both the User ID and temporary password (each in a separate letter) to the mailing address of record for each account. If you have not received both letters for each account you may have, please contact us at 800-524-8875.

Do I need to take any action for my account to move with Zions Direct?

Yes. Zions Direct has created a new account on the Interactive Brokers platform for each account you currently have on the National Financial Platform; however the new accounts and your personal information must be accepted and confirmed by you before the assets will transfer to Interactive Brokers. To accept and confirm the account(s), please log in using the information given (User ID and Temporary Password) in the two separate mailings you should have received and the site will direct you through the process.

By what date do I have to take this action to transfer my Zions Direct account?

If no action is taken by 12/30/2016, Zions Direct will no longer be the broker dealer on the account. If the account is not transferred the new broker dealer, NFS, will send you notification of the next steps in January 2017.

What happens if I decide not to transfer my account with Zions Direct to Interactive Brokers?

You may transfer your account to another broker dealer of your choice. If the account is transferred after 12/30/2016 transfer out fees may be charged to your account.

Will I receive two statements when I transfer my account?

Yes. In the month that your account transfers you will receive a statement from both National Financial Services and Interactive Brokers. The statement from National Financial will show your assets being withdrawn from your account with a transaction description indicating they are being transferred to Interactive Brokers. Your statement from Interactive Brokers will show your assets being deposited to your new account there.

Will I receive multiple tax forms for the year?

Depending upon the activity that takes place in your account(s), you probably will receive a tax form from each clearing firm.

How long will I have access to my old account?

At this point you should have access until the end of March 2017, however the process for accessing the account after 12/30/16 may change.

What fees will be assessed to my account due to the transfer?

Zions Direct is covering the fees charged by National Financial to close and/or transfer your account(s) until 12/30/2016. Even if you decide to transfer to another firm, Zions Direct will still cover the NFS fees until 12/30/2016.

What if I have check writing or automatic payments on my current Zions Direct account?

Once the account is transferred to Interactive Brokers, the check writing and automatic payments will no longer be available. Please make arrangements to stop the use of these items prior to transferring the account.

What if I have automatic deposits into my current Zions Direct account?

Please ensure that you stop the automatic payments from occurring as they could be rejected once the account is transferred from NFS.

What if I have automatic disbursements from my current Zions Direct account?

Keeping your account information safe is very important to us. View our security practices as well as some pointers to help keep your account secure.

Understand how Zions Direct collects and uses your personal information.

Site Security

Zions Direct is committed to protecting the security of your accounts from unauthorized access. Your information is stored behind a secure firewall and all sensitive information is communicated to our servers using 256-bit Secure Socket Layer encryption.

Zions Direct servers use "cookie" technology to ensure your account's confidentiality and security, and to make it easier for you to navigate through our site.

Two primary types of fraud that our customers need to be aware of are email fraud and online fraud. Understanding how ill-intentioned persons may try to obtain your personal information and how you can protect yourself against it is essential. If you ever feel an email or website that appears to be from Zions Direct is fraudulent call us at 1-800-524-8875.

Email Fraud

Fraudulent email messages try to obtain your personal and financial information, such as an account number, social security number, or password, by asking you to reply directly to the email or to link to a phony website that appears legitimate. Regardless of the method used, you will eventually be asked to provivde personal, financial or account information.

IT IS NOT ALWAYS EASY TO DISTINGUISH FRAUDULENT EMAIL MESSAGES.
YOU CAN IDENTIFY FRAUDULENT EMAILS BY LOOKING FOR THE FOLLOWING CHARACTERISTICS:

Immediate Requests
These emails will often ask for an immediate response to the email sent. For example, the message may tell you your account will be closed if you fail to confirm, verify or authenticate your personal information immediately. Never click on a link in an email message that asks you to provide sensitive personal, financial or account information.

Typos and Other Errors
Fraudulent emails or websites may contain typographical or grammatical errors. The writing may also be awkward, stilted or inappropriate. The visual or design quality may be poor.

General Greetings
Bogus emails often provide a general greeting and do not identify you by name, for example “Dear client.”

Online Fraud

Fraudulent websites are created to look like real websites. Their intent is to mimic a similar website in appearance with the hope that you will trust the site and input your personal information. Creating phony web sites is easy to do. There are a few additional precautions you can take as a consumer to protect yourself from online fraud.

HERE ARE A FEW IDEAS TO HELP:

  • Always log off websites or secure areas of websites for which you use an ID and password to enter.
  • If the website you are visiting is asking you for personal account information, open a new browser window, enter the website (e.g. www.zionsdirect.com) in the address bar, and check to see if you must actually provide the information that the previous site was requesting.
  • Frequently monitor your account activity. Be aware of what types of securities and number of shares you have in your account so that you can be alerted when investments or funds are tampered with.
  • If you are concerned that you responded to a fraudulent email or website request from Zions Direct, report the fraud immediately to Zions Direct and change your password.
  • If you are asked to update or verify personal or Zions Direct account information, call Zions Direct.
  • Never give out your account information or passwords to anyone.
  • When your computer is not in use, shut it down or disconnect it from the Internet.
